Making Tax Digital for VAT
From April 2022, this is being extended to all VAT registered business regardless of turnover.
Currently only businesses with turnover above £85,000 are included, but from April 2022 ALL VAT registered businesses will need to comply.
What’s involved?

- Submit VAT returns to HMRC using MTD software

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax
The next big thing around the corner is Making Tax Digital for Income Tax.
HOT OFF THE PRESS: Making Tax Digital for Income Tax from has been delayed until 2024 (was April 6, 2023).
Self-employed businesses and landlords with annual business or property income above £10,000 will need to follow the rules for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax from 2024.
This means:
- Keeping accounting records electronically
- Filing quarterly returns to HMRC
- Submitting a final end of period statement with any adjustments to correct the year
