Breed and heavy horse village

Inspiration, education and top class entertainment. These words sum up this year’s arena demonstrations at the regions premier equestrian event.

Held at Westpoint in Exeter on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th December, the Westcountry Equine Fair promises to be an action-packed two days, with an excellent equestrian shopping village, celebrities and fabulous demonstrations.

In addition, the show has a fantastic breed village, which this year has a new heavy horse area. The breeds being featured are: British Spotted Pony; Cleveland Bay; Dartmoor Pony; Exmoor Pony; Fell Pony and Haflinger.

The Heavy horses include: Canadian Belgiums; Clydesdales; Comtois; Percheron; Shires and Suffolk….and the Mini Shetland! The Western Counties Heavy Horse Society will also be on hand to answer any questions.

The Breeds will have a display to music in the indoor arena on Saturday, 7th December and the Heavy Horses will have a display to music on Sunday, 8th December.

Nearly ten years ago, Beamish the Shire horse started raising money and visiting life limited children. He met his lovely friend the mini Shetland. From this great friendship the Heavy Horse Village evolved to the amazing spectacle we know and love today.

This year, the Heavy Horse Village will be raising awareness of the End of Treatment Bells, set up by a true survivor with a mission to put bells on as many wards as she can, celebrating treatment milestones.

Come and meet these lovely animals and the teams that look after them. Learn about the breeds, their history and how they have evolved.

There will even be a selection of carts on display within the heavy horse section and the amazing horse drawn fire engine!

Join the West Country’s equine community for a weekend of equestrian celebration! Whatever your riding level, if you are taking back the reins or simply have a love of horses, there is something for everyone. A variety of excellent master classes in the indoor arena, fantastic competitive events and experts areas and of course plenty of shopping for the horse and rider.

This is the ultimate equestrian experience for you, your family and friends to enjoy.
