An update from Tavistock BID…

The summer was extremely busy for Tavistock BID - a huge amount of effort went into the Summer Festival and it definitely paid off with hundreds of visitors attending each day, undoubtedly increasing footfall in the town. As the summer season comes to an end, the hanging baskets have been taken down and BID is now focusing its efforts towards future events for autumn, a Winter Festival and arranging for Christmas trees to be provided to every Tavistock BID business that would like one.

The summer although busy, wasn’t necessarily an easy time with the erection of scaffolding in the town centre - creating a potentially negative impact on some businesses. After liaising with the businesses concerned, Tavistock BID, Tavistock Town Council and Tavistock Chamber of Commerce arranged signage to promote ‘business as usual’ for those affected. It is hoped that visitors were not put off by the scaffolding and still appreciated everything that Tavistock has to offer.

In addition to the summer festival, BID has launched the Visit Tavistock webpage, which is designed to showcase our beautiful town, whilst also providing an inventory of all businesses, hotels and restaurants within the town centre and further afield. This is useful for visitors and locals alike and can be viewed at www.visit-tavistock.co.uk - a Visit Tavistock Facebook page has also been created, full of events and useful information, and can be found by searching Visit Tavistock on Facebook.

Looking ahead to the autumn and winter seasons, Tavistock BID would like to replicate the success of the Summer Festival. Tavistock is magical during autumn and we want to capitalise on that to ensure we keep people visiting. With the new web assets, BID is extremely confident that we will attract more and more visitors. The website receives enquiries from all over the world from potential visitors or people who have visited the town, and is a testament to the fact that Tavistock is doing things right.
