Helpful Holidays host successful owner evening at Darts Farm

On Monday 28th February, leading South West holiday letting agency, Helpful Holidays, held an evening dedicated to supporting new and existing holiday home owners in the region. 

Taking place at Darts Farm, near Exeter, the free-to-attend ‘Guide to Holiday Letting’ event included presentations from Helpful Holidays Marketing Manager, Emily Mercer, and Head of South West Business Development, Melanie Pascoe. There were also a number of guest speakers including Nick Smith from estate agent Stags, tax specialist John Endacott from PKF Francis Clark, and Claire Wright from the Countryside Land Association.

Over 30 people attended, and were treated to a wealth of information, along with some delicious handmade pizzas created in the Darts Farm kitchen.

With topics covered ranging from considerations when buying a holiday home to let, to legislative requirements and the day to day running of self-catering accommodation, the evening aimed to cover all aspects of setting up a holiday home. Current booking trends were also highlighted, with valuable insights into the holiday market and predictions for the 2022 season and beyond.

Melanie Pascoe said, “We were delighted to share information and knowledge, as well as network with others interested in the travel and tourism industry. In our recent survey of 1000 holiday makers, we found 56% of people are planning to take two or more UK staycations in the next 12 months, showing just how much opportunity those thinking of holiday letting in Devon have at their fingertips. We hope the evening showed people how to maximise the booking and income potential of their property.”

In addition to the presentations, there were also exhibitors from Tozers Solicitors, Boshers Insurance, Making Spaces Work and Ashwood Shepherds Huts. Attendees had the opportunity to network, before the winners of the free draw were announced. Prizes included a £250 John Lewis Gift Voucher, a bottle of Moet Rose Imperial and two beautiful hampers!
