CANCELLATION OF 2020 AGRIFEST SOUTH WEST

It is with regret that due to the tightening of restrictions as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic the Devon County Agricultural Association (DCAA) and Agrifest South West Committee has today, Thursday 24th September, confirmed the cancellation of the 2020 Agrifest South West Event.

The popular primestock and agricultural trade show, due to take place on Wednesday 11th November at Westpoint, Exeter usually attracts over 1,000 visitors from across the region.  Showcasing many agricultural businesses as well as hosting competitions for commercial sheep, beef and dairy animals it provides an excellent opportunity for farmers and other agricultural professionals to meet and discuss issues and opportunities in the sector. However, the push back of the government’s plan to re-open business events and trade fairs on the 1st October and the increase in restrictions in the coming weeks have resulted in the cancellation.

Robert Venner, committee chairman, explained: ‘It is with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to cancel Agrifest,  we had really hoped that we could have held this event for the benefit and enjoyment of the agricultural community this autumn after what has been a very challenging year.  We appreciate this will be a great disappointment to our traders, competitors, stewards and visitors who had been really looking forward to attending.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their support and understanding in these extraordinary times. However, we are confident we have made the right decision in the circumstances and must put the welfare of everyone associated with Agrifest South West above all else’.

Agrifest South West will hope to return to Westpoint, Exeter in November 2021.
