Tavistock Memory Café was named as GA Solicitors charity of the year in 2015 and has benefitted from the team’s fundraising efforts for the last 12 months with a donation of £1600.  A range of activities were undertaken including dress down days, bakes sales, raffles and much more.

The Memory Café is open to any individuals who have concerns about memory loss. It provides practical information and support, as well as the opportunity for people with dementia, their families and carers to ask questions and listen to the experiences of others.  It also offers an informal and social environment in which to learn new skills, undertake meaningful activities and listen to guest speakers.

The £1600 raised by the GA team will be put towards enjoyable day trips for both carers and sufferers, as well as an eagerly anticipated Christmas party!

Catherine Bailey, partner of GA Solicitors and trustee of Tavistock Memory Café, commented: “Every penny of the money raised has been donated or earned by the team at GA after considerable effort and dedication. We have a strong ethos in the firm in regards to our corporate social responsibility and always strive to support the community in which we work. We have been delighted to support Tavistock Memory Café and are pleased to see that these funds will make such a difference to the many people helped by the charity.”

June Wildman, chair of Tavistock Memory Café, added: “As a small charity we rely heavily on donations from individuals and organisations. This is a substantial sum for us and we can really make a difference to the lives of those who suffer from dementia and other memory related diseases. I and the rest of the team would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the GA team for raising this money. We are truly delighted.”
