A busy summer for Yelverton Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Yelverton has been very active during the summer months raising funds for charitable purposes, assisting and helping in the local communities. It has provided the voluntary labour to organise and run the car parks at the RAF Harrowbeer and Widecombe Fair events, and organised a dog show at Postbridge and a car boot sale in Yelverton.

Earlier this year, the Yelverton Rotary Club assisted visiting school children at ‘Lambing Live’ at Greenwell Farm Yelverton, supporting an event which has helped hundreds of people over many years, both young and old, to understand farming and rural life. The club also supported Princetown Primary School’s popular ‘Bake Off’ competition.

Working with Buckland Monachorum Parish Council, Yelverton Rotary Club arranged the installation of a defibrillator outside the Doctors' Surgery in Yelverton. The club is now carrying out regular teaching courses on how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and to date a total of 150 local people have successfully attended the sessions.

On alternate Fridays, members of the club continue to help at the Yelverton Memory Café which provides practical information, support and activities for people with dementia, as well as their families and carers. In addition, Yelverton Rotary Club has recently held street collections for ShelterBox and World Polio Day, manned a stall at Tavistock Goose Fair, and planted 200 purple crocuses.

The Yelverton Rotary Club meets weekly at the Moorland Garden Hotel in Yelverton on Wednesday evenings at 7.30 pm and is always keen to welcome new members. To find out more about Yelverton Rotary Club please email membership@yelvertonrotaryclub.co.uk or look us up on Facebook @yelvertonrotary
