An update from Moor’s Edge U3A

Are you retired or semi-retired? If so, why not come and join us if you want a range of interesting days out and things to do! We’ve just celebrated our third birthday and the number of interest groups you can participate in is steadily growing along with our membership numbers.

Over the summer period our groups have continued to run. The garden visit group had an enjoyable outing to Greenway; the National Trust property that was previously owned by Agatha Christie. Future trips include Pinsla in Cornwall and Rosemoor RHS gardens in North Devon. The Weekenders have been enjoying meals out, going to Fish, Chinese, Greek and Italian restaurant’s, with plenty more evening meals planned over the coming months. We might need to join our Short Walks group to burn off the calories! They have plans for walks starting at Burrator Dam and Cotehele with pub lunches to finish!

The Wine Tasting group visited Sharpham Vineyard, an interesting and tasty event as wine and cheese were sampled.

Other groups include Singing for fun, Literature, History, Photography and Scrabble to name a few. There really is something for everyone whether you want to sit and talk or go out and walk.

A social event is planned for Skittles at Clearbrook Hall, a repeat event enjoyed by a large number of the membership last year. The Jazz and Music Group have rung the changes with several attending the Plymouth Proms in the Guildhall, flags were waved, hands clapped in time to the music and the opportunity to join in with the rousing songs such as Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem.

We meet on the second Thursday of every month at the Woolwell Centre, Roborough for our general meeting.

Do come along and visit, twice before you join us.
