Books at Bedtime

Everyone is invited to come along for a great evening when the Oxfam Bookshop in Tavistock will be keeping its doors open late until 10:30pm. From 4:00 to 6:00pm there will be children’s quizzes and a treasure hunt in the shop as well as a range of children’s books and DVDs in a one-night-only sale. To get the evening going from 6:00pm there will be music from young Tavistock College musicians, giving them a chance to showcase their talents. Later on, there will be more live music, with Spanish guitarist, Mark Barnwell playing from around 7:30pm. During the evening you’ll be able to test yourself on book and music quizzes, there will also be a raffle and the inner sanctum of the back room will be open for refreshments, tea, coffee, snacks and wine (by donation).

Books at Bedtime took place for the first time last year and was so successful that it may become an annual midsummer event. A key aim of the evening is to raise funds for Oxfam and this year Books at Bedtime is launching an even bigger fundraising appeal, running through the year to educate as many children as possible in the poorest parts of the world. The target for the evening is £250, which will provide education for twenty children and help communities. And you’ll be able to shop throughout the evening, so please put the date in your diary and come along!
