Buckland Monachorum parish news…

'Speed Watch' group

The parish council has been approached to see if there is any interest in establishing a 'Speed Watch' group to monitor and report speeding in and around the parish. If formed, members would be trained to carry out the task of monitoring speed, and the findings could lead to speed restrictions or traffic calming measures being introduced where there is evidence of need. If you would be interested in becoming a member of the group, please get in touch - email clerk@bmpc.info and use the title 'speedwatch'.

Yelverton Community Projects open day

Yelverton Community Projects, comprising Yelvercare, Yelverton Play Park and Yelverton Cinema, recently held a community open day to publicise the many and varied activities happening in the local community. Lots of people dropped into St Paul’s church hall over the course of the morning to meet representatives from a wide range of the community groups and clubs involved, which included Yelverton Cinema, Yelverton Play Park, Yelvercare, Yelverton Badminton Club, Buckland Monachorum Parish Council, Yelverton Rotary Club, Yelverton Memory Café, Yelverton Tennis Club, The Garden House, Crafty Girls, Footsteps School of Dance, Buckland Art Group and Edgemoor Nursery. Members of Footsteps School of Dance also entertained visitors with a selection of dance routines, before the more serious business of the AGM.

The event was designed to celebrate all the great things that happen in the local community, raise awareness of the variety and richness of activities, as well as attract new members and supporters. If you would like to know more about Yelverton Community Projects or you are involved in a local group and would like to join in next year’s event, just let us know - email chris.j.taylor01@btinternet.com and we'll keep you posted.
