Entertainment for all at the Peter Tavy Plod and Fun Run

August Bank Holiday Monday saw the 13th Running of the annual Peter Tavy Plod and Fun Run supported by the Peter Tavy Inn. This has grown into an important event in the local running calendar with runners and families able to enjoy the local Village Fayre which is organised in conjunction.

The runners had glorious weather to traverse the village following footpaths and moorland tracks for the five-mile event which climbs to Stephens Grave on the Peter Tavy Great Common before descending via the hamlet of Cudlipptown back to the finish at the Church.

At the sharp end of the run Jim Cole registered his 5th victory in the event, while Maddie Horton won the women’s race. The first local runner was once again Steve Watson who finished 9th overall.

In the Junior Fun Run it was something of a family affair with Joe Dix leading home his younger brother Euan.

This is a friendly run and a great family day out so if you are looking for somewhere to spend the afternoon next August Bank Holiday then give it a try.

The Peter Tavy Fayre provided entertainment for all the family with traditional games, a wide variety of stalls, the duck race in the Colley Brook and the sheep shearing demonstrations. This year was also the 16th annual meeting of the Dartmoor Teddy Bears’ Dangerous Sports Association, where teddy bears had the chance to try their luck at the ‘power assisted’ long jump challenge.
