Fen reaches Canada!
Moor Links has been following the progress of Fen Eastaugh, aged 19, on her 2,665-mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) from Mexico to Canada and we are delighted to report that Fen finally reached the Canadian border on 25th September after 148 days.
2017 was a difficult year, nobody got to walk the entire PCT and the number of finishers was very much lower than 2016. Fen has encountered vast swathes of snow and ice in the High Sierras, fast-flowing and swollen river crossings, 40+ degree heat in the deserts and huge areas of forest fires in California, Oregon and Washington. Deer, rattlesnakes and the occasional bear were sighted and lasting friendships created. 2017 became ‘The Year of Fire & Ice’.
Fen would like to thank all those who supported her and sent messages of encouragement - it’s a summer she will never forget and a truly amazing five months.
