Avro Lancaster to give a flypast for RAF Harrowbeer's 80th anniversary

Plans to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the opening of RAF Harrowbeer, Yelverton in August have received a huge boost with the news that the BBMF are sending their Avro Lancaster to give a flypast at the show. This popular event was cancelled last year due to Covid restrictions, but the organisers are confident that the event will be able to go ahead in 2021.

Organised by the RAF Harrowbeer Interest Group (HIG), the event will be centred around the Dispersal Bay restored by the HIG, at Axtown, Yelverton. Although entry and parking are both free, the event does need financial support and the HIG is asking for donations to help cover costs. Full details are available at www.rafharrowbeer1940s.co.uk.

RAF Harrowbeer officially opened on the 15th August 1941 and the RAF Harrowbeer 1940s Weekend is scheduled to take place on the 14th & 15th August 2021.
