News from Buckland Monachorum Parish Council

Bus shelter make-overs

The eagled-eyed residents of the parish will have spotted that the bus shelters at both Crapstone and Milton Combe have been painted and are looking a great deal better for it. All the work was done by residents and members of the Parish Council, along with the bus stop on Golf Links Road in Yelverton. The project is a great advertisement for local people getting involved, taking a pride in where they live while making our patch a better place for everyone.

Parking at the Yelverton shops

In the past, there have been claims that some parking slots are 'reserved' for the exclusive use of one of the businesses. This has now been investigated and agreed not to be the case. Anyone has the right to park in any of the spaces, although there is a two-hour waiting limit which applies to everyone who parks there. Those wishing to park for longer should use the Leg of Mutton car park which is free and has no restriction on how long you can park.

Cycle path planning application approved

A recent planning application to add a section to the cycle path (Kirkella Road to Lake Lane) has been approved by DNPA. However, Devon County Council has undertaken, at the request of the Parish Council, not to start the work until a satisfactory 'solution' has been found to the issue of how cyclists will get from the current path at St Paul’s Church car park to the new section. Details of this application can be found on the DNPA planning web page.
