Rotary Club Round up

At the start of September we held our Charity Golf Day with over 60 golfers involved in a fabulous tournament at Tavistock Golf Club, resulting in a cheque for £4,000 being presented to the Plymouth and District Leukaemia Fund to buy two more Chemotherapy Pumps for Derriford Hospital. That’s three pumps bought so far toward our target of five!

Now that the schools are back and autumn is well and truly with us, Trevor Williams and his team are gearing up for a great range of Youth activities. Working with the local schools and other young peoples’ organisations, we’re organising Youth Speaks, Young Photographer of the Year and we’re working on a brand new Young Artists Exhibition – keep an eye on this space.

With this and so much more going on, we’re attracting all sorts of new members to the Club. I’ve had the great pleasure of welcoming to the club former Town Mayor Mandy Ewing, former West Devon Mayor Margaret Garton, and Plymouth University’s first Vice Chancellor, John Bull.

In only a few words, it’s impossible to cover everything that we do – helping Santa Claus, organising Christmas Day Lunch at the URC, our International projects, working with other groups on Dementia, Sensory Garden and many other projects, as well as all of the social events that we’re involved in. However, if you’re interested in finding out more, and getting involved in what we do, drop me a line.
