Sunday 10th June- Cream Tea Festival at The Bedford Hotel

Where better to enjoy a true Devon cream tea than in the reputed birthplace of the delicacy – Tavistock? Legend has it that Tavistock’s hospitable monks initiated the cream tea by eating jam and cream spread on bread as far back as the 11th century.

On Sunday 10 June, Tavistock Heritage Trust will be celebrating this delightful piece of history with the Cream Tea Festival at The Bedford Hotel which stands within the boundary of the former abbey.

There will be a chance to learn more about tea from Devonshire Tea, enjoy a tea tasting and even win a hamper of the products that brought Devonshire Tea a gold Taste of the West award last year as well as a win in the 2017 Great Taste Awards. If your Sunday afternoon tipple is a little stronger, there will be a prosecco bar and a full range of soft drinks, beers, wines and spirits from the hotel bar. To ensure the afternoon goes with a swing, talented local musicians will be playing throughout the festival which starts at noon through ‘til 4.00pm, either in the hotel’s enchanting ‘secret garden’ or alternatively in the stunning Gallery 26.
