Tamar Energy Fest – Saturday 28th Oct – 10:00 to 15:00 – local energy matters

Come and join us in Tavistock Town Hall for our annual Energy Fest where we’re bringing our Energy Team and local businesses under one roof to provide the latest in energy advice and information.

There’s lots going on in local energy use and supply, energy efficiency and transport. Our speakers will share the latest news and potential for local benefits. Entry is free, with energy related family fun as well as tea and cake!

Tamar Energy Community solar roofs

Our six community solar roofs are all now installed, and generating. Our installations at Mount Kelly Prep, Mount Kelly Senior, Abbey Garden Machinery, Carbeile Junior School and Plymstock School have been in place for a year, bringing the sites cost benefits from locally generated power. We’re also delighted to be working with Tesco Stores in Callington, which will also be installing a community funded solar roof.

Community solar share offer launches October 2017

Are you interested in a local community investment opportunity? We’d like to repay our local community solar loans including part of our loan from Cornwall Council’s Low Carbon Society. This should reduce our financing costs and enable more of the benefit to be retained locally. Local investors should receive a fair rate of return for their money (aimed at 4-5%) and any surplus will support TEC’s energy advice work locally.

Check out the TEC website and contact us for more details.

Volunteering and work opportunities

Are you interested in a part-time role you can fit around other commitments, helping others in the community? We’d like to grow our team of paid and volunteer energy advisors. Patience, consideration and an enquiring mind are key ingredients. Training is provided.
