Tavistock Parking – Have Your Say

How do you feel about parking in Tavistock? West Devon Borough Council wants to know what you think. 

The historic town of Tavistock fares better than most ancient towns when it comes to parking, but that doesn’t mean that there’s no room for improvement…

West Devon Borough Council, in partnership with Tavistock Town Council, Tavistock BID, Tavistock Chamber and Devon County Council, are running a survey and would like as many people as possible to take part in it. 

The survey will run from 19 Aug – 7 Oct to give residents and visitors a chance to comment during and after the school holidays.

The questions cover matters such as car park signage, pricing and availability, as well as asking residents how often they use the car parks and how long they park for.

Residents, commuters and visitors are all encouraged to take part in the survey, which also includes sections for members of the public to submit their own ideas for solving this perennial problem.

Cllr Terry Pearce, Lead Member for Communities at West Devon Borough Council, said: “It’s always a challenge in historic towns to find a parking solution that suits everyone – after all, Tavistock was never designed for cars! But with input from our residents, commuters and visitors, we hope that we can provide a service where everyone can park securely at an affordable rate, in the best possible location for their needs.”

The results of the survey will help the partners to plan the future management of the parking service, to ensure that it meets demand.
