The power of community

‘The Friends of the Club’ was formed four years ago to raise funds to modernise the Bere Ferrers Social Club facilities. Club members, volunteers and local tradesmen from the community have all lent a hand to redecorate the events area, entrance lobby, toilets and club exterior, as well as fully modernise the kitchen. The next phase of the project will be updating the bar and games area.

The social club complements an excellent village pub and a much-used village hall, and provides an incredibly varied programme of live events. Run entirely by volunteers, the BFS Club opens six nights a week and hosts a range of entertainments such as live comedy nights, live music guest speakers, private parties, card and games evenings, charity quizzes and craft afternoons. It also has a wide range of games facilities, including darts, pool, table tennis, a full-size snooker table and a skittle alley. You too could easily become a club member and enjoy all these activities!

On 26 November, the fourth Christmas Arts and Craft Fair will be hosted by The Friends of the Club (see what’s on for details).
