Twinning opportunities

North Tawton Twinning Association is currently in the planning stages for this year’s visit to the town by the members of the Blangy Le Chateau twinning group, which takes place on May 11th to May 13th.

The twinning association has been running for more than 40 years and visits between the two towns take place each spring in alternate countries.

The North Tawton twinning group has a growing number of people and families involved in the annual visits, but as Jill Whiteley, chairman of the group, said, more members of any age are very welcome to enjoy the pleasure of regular visits to a foreign country, learning more about its history, culture, food and customs.

Jill said: ‘We usually all go out for a meal together and we organise a cultural or historical trip - for example, last time we went to Castle Drogo.’

The itinerary for this year’s visit is in the planning stages but North Tawton Twinning Association would be very pleased to hear from anyone in the area who might like to join them for any of the activities or to become a member of this friendly, sociable group. There is no need to speak French although anyone who can would be very welcome! The association would also be interested in hearing from families who would like to host French visitors during their stay.
