Visiting Buckfast Abbey

Buckfast Abbey’s famous Lavender Garden once again provides a haven of tranquillity, as the grounds, church and facilities partially re-open to the public for the first time since March.

The Abbey’s gardeners have been lovingly tending the numerous plants, albeit on a skeleton rota, during the many weeks of lockdown and operating a no-mow policy elsewhere in the grounds to encourage wildlife.

The grounds, gift shop and some toilets are open between 12 and 3.30 pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 12pm to 3pm on Sundays. The Grange Restaurant is operating a takeaway service.

Social distancing measures, a one-way system, extra cleaning, screens and contactless payment are in place to protect visitors, staff and the monks.
