Winkleigh Morris Dancers weekend of dance at Merton
A weekend of Morris dancing . Morris dancers from as far afield as Ripley in Derbyshire converged on the sleepy hamlet of Merton in West Deon last weekend for a weekend of dancing and merrymaking culminating in a mass dance at Merton Village Hall on Sunday 21st. Despite the showery weather on Sarurday 20th three coaches took Morris dancers to 15 differnt venues in North and West Devon including Castle Drogo, Chagford, Bideford Torrington and Barnstaple, where dancing displays took place. Entertainment also included a Ceilidh on Saturday evening, a church service and a local walk on the Sunday morning and informal music making all over the weekend. A very jolly time was had by all!
