Wolferstans raises £7000 for local Plymouth Charity, Friends and Families of Special Children

Plymouth based solicitor firm, Wolferstans, has raised an amazing £7000 for local Plymouth charity, Friends and Families of Special Children who provide a range of services for families with children who experience disabilities in Plymouth and surrounding areas.

Friends and Families of Special Children was set up in 2002 by a small group of parents who identified a huge gap in service provision for children with disabilities and their families within Plymouth and the surrounding areas. The group gained charitable status in 2005 (Registered Charity No 1140826) and is now one of the main providers of integrated leisure services within Plymouth. The charity is unique in that it helps the whole family, providing activities not only for the disabled children, but also for their siblings. Parents are supported by specialist workers who provide information and advice, as well as organising training workshops. Friends and Families has been described as a lifesaver by some of its families, yet despite its valuable work, the charity is still relatively unknown amongst the people of Plymouth.

Wolferstans colleagues at the Plymouth, Plympton and Plymstock branches fundraised throughout 2017 for Friends and Families with events such as a Festive Fun Day, Christmas Market and taking part in the Plymouth 10k.

Emily Riddick, Marketing Executive at Wolferstans said, ““We were proud to support Friends and Families of Special Children as our 2017 Charity of the Year. We built a fantastic relationship with the charity which we hope will continue in to the future and we thoroughly enjoyed raising awareness of the vital services they provide. The charity really is a lifeline for many families and we hope our donation will make a valuable difference to them.”

Hannah Whiting, Lead Fundraiser for the charity said, “The work Wolferstans carried out with us throughout 2017 was incredible. Not just the fundraising, but the support for our families as well as helping us to raise the profile of our charity. Charity partnerships are so important to charities, especially smaller ones like ours. If anyone knows of any people or businesses that would like to get involved with our charity, please get in touch.”
