Devon and Cornwall Alert - Are you Signed Up?

West Devon Borough Council is urging residents to sign up to the free Devon and Cornwall Alert Service provided by Devon and Cornwall Police.

The two way messaging system enables Devon and Cornwall Police to connect with their community, and tell people exactly what is happening in their local area, allowing them to respond directly with any information.

Residents can choose what type of information they’d like to receive concerning crime and anti-social behaviour, witness appeals, crime prevention, community events and local good news.

Cllr Robin Musgave, West Devon Borough Council’s Community Safety Partnership representative, said: “It’s easy to feel isolated in rural areas and small towns, and as hard as they work, the bottom line is that our Police Officers and PCSOs can’t be everywhere. The Devon and Cornwall Alert system is a fantastic way to keep in touch with what’s happening in your community, and gives residents the chance to feel connected to the Police and other agencies in real time.

“You aren’t inundated with messages about every single crime that happens in your area; the information is relevant and to the point, reducing the opportunity for crime and anti-social behaviour or helping the police solve a crime.”

Registering for the alerts is a quick and simple online form, which can be found at https://alerts.dc.police.uk/ Printable forms are also available which can be completed by hand and returned.

Residents can choose to receive messages via phone, mobile, text or email. Preferences can be updated at any time, and businesses can also register for the service.
