Learn Devon - learning for families

Learn Devon provides adult courses to help develop skills, pursue passions and improve wellbeing. We offer courses in English, maths, arts and crafts, languages, employability, English for speakers of other languages and courses for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.

In addition to our regular courses, Learn Devon works closely with the local communities we support, to offer free Family Learning courses that are fun, practical and can help parents and carers to:

· Develop ideas to support their child’s learning and development

· Enjoy learning alongside their children

· Develop confidence and new skills

· Offer progression onto accredited learning when appropriate

These courses take place in children’s centres, nurseries, schools, libraries and other community venues. Topics often include storytelling, puppet-making, craft, animation, fun with maths, healthy eating and more.

‘Bags of Maths’ is just one of the short courses we are offering this term. This 5-week course helps parents and children over the age of two, create numeracy games to play at home, all stored in a handy bag! Learners will be introduced to early counting skills, practical activities to encourage the use of maths and fun ways to learn about capacity and measuring.

Learn Devon can also design and deliver bespoke courses, on particular subjects relevant to community organisations and run them at arranged times and in convenient venues, for example if your school would like to put on Family Learning courses for your parents and carers, we can arrange this. Most of our courses are free, however eligibility criteria apply.
