Give community space a makeover with help from Community Fund

Since its launch in 2014, RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund has supported 28 charities, schools, projects and community groups by donating £1,000 worth of building materials every other month. The builders merchant is delighted to be bringing it back for another year and is inviting groups in the Okehampton area to get in contact.   For its first giveaway of the new campaign, RGB would like to hear from groups that are keen to improve part of their community. Perhaps an outdoor space is rundown and deserves to be turned into a community garden, or maybe a local building was damaged in the recent storms and a group needs help with materials for repairs.  Whatever the need, RGB wants to hear about it.   Paul Lethbridge, Branch Manager at RGB Okehampton, commented:  “Our Well Built Community Fund has shown us how many fantastic charities and support groups there are in the area providing help for local people, and we’re delighted to be continuing this positive initiative. We want to hear from groups and charities which have maybe been ‘putting up’ with some damage, or out of date facilities, and would like £1,000 to spend at our branch to renovate the area.”      Groups, charities and schools can apply by emailing RGB@pmwcom.co.uk and explaining how £1,000 worth of materials would help their project. Nominations can also be posted to RGB Community Fund, c/o PMW Communications, PO Box 167, Bideford, Devon, EX39 9DU.  The closing date for nominations is Sunday 28th April.  From all the nominations received, three will be chosen to go through to a vote where the public will be asked to decide who will receive the donation of materials.   Until February 2020, RGB will also be inviting groups to apply for £1,000 worth of decorating supplies, tools and building materials, timber and landscaping products, as well as £1,000 to help transform a kitchen or bathroom area. In addition, in June, to celebrate the 30th giveaway, RGB will be holding a special Well Built Community Fund specifically for groups that help young people learn a trade.   Terms and conditions and further information about the different categories being supported by the Community Fund can be found on RGB’s website.
