Legal Aid Meets First Aid

The junior doctors at Derriford Hospital are drinking their tea and coffee in style after receiving much needed support from Plymouth law firm, GA Solicitors.

The junior doctors established a mess committee in a bid to improve their kitchen and break room at the hospital, an essential escape during their long workings days and nights on call. They put out a cry for help to the local business community – and GA Solicitors answered!

Hearing that the junior doctors were often drinking tea and coffee from glasses or chipped crockery, members of the firm pitched up with more than 100 mugs to fill their cupboards, ensuring the members are kept fully fuelled for their long and busy shifts.

When receiving the donation, Dr Bernadetta Adityani, junior doctor and mess representative, said: “We are so grateful to GA Solicitors for their support. Both our time and funds are very limited so to have a local business support us in such a manner is fantastic.

“It is a welcome gesture and I am sure the whole mess will be relieved to enjoy a good cup of tea in a decent mug for a change!”

Stephen Ramsden, managing partner of GA Solicitors added: “We Brits often joke that tea is our fuel, and no one needs that fuel more than these junior doctors who work incredibly hard and often for very long hours. When we heard that they needed help we were delighted to be able to provide them with it.”

With more than 200 years of heritage, GA Solicitors is a leading Plymouth law firm with 79 members of staff offering guidance across seven specialist departments: business; family; employment; dispute resolution; wills, trusts & probate; conveyancing and personal injury.
