Tavistock Library’s book bike launch

Tavistock Library’s book bike launch

Tavistock Library staff will be getting their cycling helmets at the ready this summer as they launch their brand-new library book tricycle. Primarily funded by housing association Livewest, the trike was initially inspired by a library bike in Wellington, after a member of the Tavistock staff visited New Zealand last year. The aim of the trike project is to inspire local communities to get involved in local events and activities and spread a love of reading. Plans to encourage participation from local individuals and families who might not normally use the library, and raise awareness of all the amazing free opportunities, include visiting three of Tavistock’s largest LiveWest housing estates during August. While out on their travels, the book trike team will offer free children’s books as well as a story time for younger children. They’ll also be handing out copies of the ‘Tavy in Touch’ folder, a booklet packed full of information, including contact details for useful local services.
