25th Anniversary Year 2018

Matt Austin

Nigel Perrin and The Exeter Festival Chorus are delighted to announce the new dates for its celebratory 25th Anniversary Season in 2018.

Prepare to be entertained with ambitious and diverse programming which will include works by Rachmaninov, Monteverdi, Bach, Goodall, Parry, Willcocks and more, sung with a spirit that carries the Exeter Festival Chorus through some of the most demanding scores in the choral repertoire.

Founded in 1993, Exeter Festival Chorus has gained a reputation as one of the liveliest and most adventurous choirs in the South West. Under the inspired and dynamic musical direction of Nigel Perrin (formerly the ‘high voice’ of the original King’s Singers), this choir of around 75 singers has become one of the region’s most versatile and highly acclaimed choral groups. It performs with professional orchestras and soloists and aims to bring choral music of the highest quality to its audiences, expanding musical boundaries for singers and listeners alike.

In 2018, the chorus will be performing with Roderick Williams, The English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, Voces8, Peter Adcock and The Band of HM Royal Marines, Lympstone, in four spectacular concerts spread throughout the year.

Rachmaninov Liturgy of St John Chrysostom

Monteverdi Vespers (1610) with The English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, Voces8 & Schola Exe

An Evening with JS Bach: Choral Motets and Keyboard Suites

Peter Adcock, piano

Exeter Festival Chorus & The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, Lympstone, with guest artist Roderick Williams, baritone

The Chorus is already hard at work laying the foundations for this year’s concerts, when it will be singing in superb venues and creating events of exceptional enjoyment. Watch this space.

Nigel Perrin: a life in music “I love choir conducting; it is my passion. What I learnt from Sir David Willcocks’ discipline and my time with the King’s Singers was that everything had to be vocally perfect but, also, we were there to entertain audiences. Those are the two things that I strive for all the time.”
