Dartmoor Border Morris – dance season begins!

Dartmoor Border Morris are getting ready for a big launch to their dance season this year, with an appearance in a advert due to be aired on Saturday 9th April on Channel 4, during the Grand National horse race. “We had a phone call out of the blue last August”, asking if we would like to appear in a national TV advert for the Black Farmer Company. It`s been a long time in coming, as it was filmed in early August, & is entitled “ my soul”, showing Wilfred Emmanuel -Jones, the man behind the Black Farmer Company, getting excited about things that he is passionate about, like family, Devon, Spanish Flamingo dancing, British products & Morris dancing! We spent a good afternoon at his house making the advert, & we are very pleased with the exposure the world of Morris has through the commercial. There is a lot more to this man than just sausages!

Despite our fame on the telly , Dartmoor Border Morris have still got have our feet firmly on the floor in Meavy. Our diary start`s with a Mummers play in Buckland Abbey on Sunday 3rd April, starting at 1pm & again at 2.30pm. Dartmoor Border Morris are due to travel to the Dolphin pub in Plymouth's  historic barbican area on Sunday 24th April, where we will meet up with several other sides to celebrate St Georges day . We will be in Upton Folk fest this year where we will watching the sun come up on Mayday Morning , before heading back & dancing at the Royal Oak on Wednesday 4th May, then out at different pubs across the moors most Wednesdays till September. One good night to check out, might be on Thursday 19th May, from 8 pm when we meet up with our good friends, Lodestone Border Morris at the "Who`d have thought it" Inn, at Milton Coombe. During our performances, we will of course be collecting for charity, one of which is Global Action Nepal, for which we have a link too, & the second one is, at the time of writing, undecided.
