FANTASTIC FIDDLES TO FIRE UP THE PLOUGH ARTS CENTRE

Prepare for a magical evening of glorious strings, as fabulous fiddle duo “Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll” return to The Plough Arts Centre, Great Torrington, on Saturday 7th October.

Their music is a joyful collision of English traditional music and contemporary bowed strings.

These fantastic fiddle players and singers will take you on a journey from the darker side of folk ballad to toe-tapping tunes and songs.

Nick & Becki are highly respected players and composers. They blend melodic, emotive violin and viola with driving fiddle chords and powerful vocals to produce an unforgettable sound, interspersed with anecdotes of adventures and stories from the road.

Alongside old favourites and newly-written compositions, they will be performing some material from their latest release “The Songs of Edward Capern”, inspired by the work of the Victorian Postman Poet of Bideford, which has received rave reviews and international radio play. Described by the the Living Tradition as “Folk music at its best”, and Songlines as “A first class delivery”.

Fresh from a summer touring with the Jim Causley trio and Gadarene (Nick), they are also joined by James Budden on double bass, to add another layer to their complex and beautiful sound.

Don’t miss this incredible evening of tunes and songs, sure to send you home with a smile on your face and a spring in your step!
