Live music warms hearts at Eden laser show: Festival of Light and Sound - selected dates until December 30

The beautiful music of a group of top singers and songwriters is enchanting audiences at the Eden Project’s spectacular laser show this Christmas.

Singer and guitarist Jamie Crowe and choir leader Vicky Abbott are heading up the Sound of Light Ensemble made up of nine musicians including acclaimed singer Kezia on lead vocals.

Their original live set composed by Jamie mixes elements of Cornish folk with ambient electronica and is the perfect accompaniment to the Festival of Light and Sound extravaganza taking place at Eden on selected dates throughout December.

The laser show features iy_project, a collaboration between Eden, creative partners EdenLAB and renowned light artist Chris Levine. It is choreographed to a 3D audio experience created by sound designer Marco Perry.

Performances by the Sound of Light Ensemble are interspersed with the ambisonic treatment to create an evening of both live acoustic music and a digital multi-layered soundscape that complement the canopy of light displays.

The event also features solo sets by Jamie and Kezia and a cappella singing led by Vicky.

Jamie, who used to front one of Cornwall’s biggest bands, Rootjoose, and later Rairbirds, said: “I wanted to write something choral and with a sense of togetherness, communion and seasonal cheer.

“It’s been brilliant to work with top artists and be part of a moving and living light show that is heart-warming and fills all of Eden – it’s just amazing.”

Vicky, who has taught, sung and arranged music for choirs for two decades, said: “I have never sung at such an extraordinary setting. The Mediterranean Biome is beautiful - with all the lights above us it is just an other-worldly and surreal experience.

“Looking around at people they just look completely awestruck. The show is going down extremely well.”

One of the highlights of the Sound of Light Ensemble’s set, Holy Day, is now available to listen to on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-soundoflight
