DNPA Local Plan review

Dartmoor National Park Authority is currently reviewing the Local Plan for Dartmoor which will form the basis for all planning decisions in the National Park, covering issues such as house extensions, design, the environment, listed buildings, housing, business, farming, tourism, quarrying, and in some towns and villages also identifies areas for future housing or employment development.

The Land Availability Assessment has been completed and in October and November Dartmoor National Park Authority held open meetings with the Parish and Town Councils of Dartmoor’s largest settlements, including Moretonhampstead, Buckfastleigh, South Brent, Ashburton, Yelverton, Princetown, Chagford and Horrabridge. The local communities in these towns and villages were also invited to attend and share their thoughts on the most appropriate places for housing or employment development, as it is expected that some land will need to be allocated for development in these areas in the future. At the meetings the DNPA Forward Planning Team talked about the Local Plan review, the process for identifying potential sites, and the options which could be considered in each community.

Dartmoor National Park Authority would like you to share your views as early as possible in the process, although there will be further formal opportunities to comment on a draft Local Plan next year during a consultation in the summer of 2018.
