Folk superstars fire up North Devon

Alternative-folk pioneers Gadarene play their uplifting brand of dance-influenced grooves at The Plough Arts Centre, Torrington on Friday 7th February.

If you fancy dancing your socks off to one of the most innovative groups around, this is definitely the gig for you!

Gadarene use dance music from the ancient traditions of England and fuse it seamlessly with modern styles and genres. Mixing traditional folk instruments with live drums, looped sounds and special audio effects, their music will take you from Dub and African influences, through Jazz to Rock and Funk via Swing and Step Dance!

Tours in the USA and some headline spots at British festivals led to their music being described as “a hugely bold sound… It’s a sound that refocuses the genre, a new relevance that’s beyond tradition.” (Dave Henderson, MOJO) and “if you’re planning a folky rave, this is the music you need!” (Bright Young Folk)

After a fabulous critical and audience reception for their album “Volume Two : Live in 2016”, Gadarene have spent their time playing festivals and touring the UK club scene. This year will see the release of their eagerly awaited new album “Butchers of Bristol” which is currently in production.

Fiddle player Nick Wyke says “The new album is a real departure for us in terms of its sound and production values. We’re excited about showcasing the new material in advance to audiences across the UK. Come and get a sneak preview of some of the tracks!”

This gig is part of their 2020 UK tour, which includes dates from Purbeck to Penzance, from Leeds to London and many more. Visit www.gadarenemusic.com for all the tour dates.

Bass player Laurel Swift (Morris Offspring, Under Her Skin) says ”We’re really pleased to be coming back to North Devon. We had a great gig last time. Look forward to seeing you all there!”

Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £10/£8, and can be booked from www.theploughartscentre.org.uk or on 01805 624624
