Dartmoor Real Ale Trail

The Dartmoor Real Ale Trail is the real ale drinkers’ guide to Dartmoor pubs, featuring over 35 pubs on and around the moor. Launched by Lisa Jenkins and Julian Tarrant-Boyce, owners of local business Dartmoor Accommodation, the Dartmoor Real Ale Trail is intended to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace and definitely not all in one day!

Support for the new venture was evident from the outset, with over 35 pubs and hotels signing up straight away. ‘Real’ ale popularity is on the increase and new micro-breweries and craft beers are popping up across the West Country. The Dartmoor Real Ale Trail not only specifies the real ales and breweries (the vast majority of them local) and key beer facts such as Cask Marque accreditation, it also lists amenities such as outside drinking areas, open fires and, importantly, dog friendliness, as well as featuring a fun and informative map of the area.

“Our research has shown The Dartmoor Real Ale Trail should be popular with both local and visiting beer enthusiasts. The area has a lot of really great pubs and this map will help people ‘navigate’ their way around from one real ale pub, to another. As accommodation specialists, we know just how important it is to people to be able to take their dogs with them on holiday and into pubs. Dartmoor is such a great area for walking, it’s only natural that your four-legged friend should come too!” said Lisa.

The Dartmoor Real Ale Trail is available free of charge from the participating pubs and from accommodation providers and information centres across the Dartmoor area. www.dartmoorrealaletrail.co.uk features news from the participating pubs and people can keep up to date by joining a mailing list. Please note that pub details may change without notice and it is advisable to check details before heading out on the trail.
