Could it be time to escape to a Winter wonderland?

With travel restrictions easing after a turbulent 18 months, Emma Baker, Managing Director at Holsworthy Travel, is finally noticing an upturn in bookings to foreign climes.

Although summer is the traditional time for people to take a well-deserved break, many now look for a winter escape to break up the monotony of the gloomy UK weather. Ski resorts, European city breaks and visits to Christmas markets are all popular choices.

The biggest change in the variety of enquiries for Emma has been for skiing and mini-breaks. ‘Short breaks were actually the worst-affected by the pandemic, as people wanted to go away but the cost of testing was not worth it for just a few days,’ said Emma.

‘But as the restrictions have been eased, people are once again looking for a cheeky weekend away. A visit to see the Northern Lights can be an amazing short break and this is the time of year where there is more chance that they are visible, so something like this is a great option for Winter. There are also so many cities in the UK and Europe that offer an incredible Christmas market experience.
