Liven up your garden with a pond courtesy of Bow Garden Centre

As well as being a stunning feature, ponds come with many other benefits, such as attracting wildlife. Bow Garden & Aquatic Centre has some great advice to get you started.

Firstly, you will need to decide which type of pond interests you most and what you have room for. A Koi pond makes a beautiful feature, and will typically need to be larger in size, depending on the amount of Koi you intend to keep. Wildlife ponds are excellent for those with smaller gardens, needing only oxygenating plants, and if you want to add fish, Orfe’s make a great choice for a wildlife pond. Bow has brand new Koi & ornamental fish available for the coming season, and their friendly team are happy to offer advice should you need any.

Adding pond plants to your pond will attract wildlife, such as birds, butterflies, frogs and newts. Plus, covering at least two thirds of your pond with plants will help to stop the build up of algae. You will find everything you need for your pond at Bow, including a large selection of pond and bog plants.

There is also nothing more calming than the sound of flowing water and a water feature or stream will add peace & beauty to any garden or pond as well as making a spectacular focal point. They are very easy to set up; Bow Garden & Aquatic Centre has a wide range of water features and streams and can offer advice on how to set them up.

Bow Garden Centre is also packed with this year’s garden must haves – so it’s definitely worth a visit to get some inspiration for the coming season. During your visit, make the most of their Waterside Cafe and relax with home-made lunches, breakfasts and home-baked cakes. Plan your trip for a Sunday and have a delicious Roast Dinner whilst you are there.

You can find Bow Garden Centre on the A3072 half way between Crediton and Okehampton.
