Some like it hot! Enjoy National Cream Tea Day with a twist

Loiter at the The Garden House tea room door long enough and you will hear many an; “oooh look at the size of that scone,” “cream first or jam?” and “goodness gracious, we could have shared one between us!”

Legendary cream teas bring our visitors back time and time again. Liz Ingram who runs the tea rooms and bakes all our homemade food is an expert cake maker and something of a scone magician.

She has worked her powers on the cream tea choices at The Garden House, so this year happy foodies can choose from variations of cream tea.

In addition to the gorgeously naughty cream tea with scones the size of the plate and oodles of cream and jam, people can also indulge in our very own hot cream tea. Chilli Jam from the South Devon Chilli Farm, topping cream cheese on a towering (or do we mean cowering?!) cheese scone.

For those who want a savoury tea-time treat, our menu also includes a cheese scone with cheddar and pickle.

We wonder what version will be the hot favourite,  the traditional or the supercharged chilli-cream-tea? Enjoy a cream tea when you visit the garden and find out for yourself!
