Hair Survival Tips By Claire Louise Eggins

Here are some hair tips to get you through lock down. Coping with hair growth. We really don’t advise you to cut your own hair - we cannot emphasise enough to try and be patient and wait. Hairdressers have very expensive scissors which do make a big difference when cutting, we also make it look a lot easier than what it actually is.

Instead try brushing your hair into different partings or wear a sweeping fringe instead of a full fringe. If you normally have short hair, as it grows try tucking it behind your ears to create a short-bobbed look. If you have long hair there are lots of tutorials online that you can watch to help you create your own messy buns and updo’s. Clips, pins and grips will really come in handy. If you have curly hair check out ‘The Curly Girl Method’ - the method works wonders.

Grey Hair

If you normally have your hair permanently coloured, chances are the regrowth is showing by now.

If you very grey, there are some root touch up products available. They can come in a spray, powder or mousse which would help temporarily blend in the grey.

Please do pull any packet colours through to the ends. They are too harsh and will create a build-up. We cannot emphasise this enough. We use the best and most expensive professional colours in the salon as quality is so important - we would hate for you to sacrifice your lovely condition by using a second-rate product and undo the hard work.

If you only have a few greys your best bet is to just be patient and wait until you can see us.

BlondesIf you normally love being blonde you may now have some darker routes showing. I would advise to use a purple shampoo as your toner may have faded by now. The purple shampoo will neutralise the brassy tones and keep the blonde fresh. Dry shampoo can really help disguise dark routes although I advise not to use as it can make the hair dry over time. Play around with hair accessories, scarfs, jewellery and go for a boho look now the sun is out. Go out in the sunshine as much as you can, the sun will naturally lighten you colour and a nice sun kissed skin complexion will always help too. Please stay away from any home blonde colouring, it could be a disaster and there will be no hairdressers around to fix it for you.I know this is hard for everyone - we cannot wait to get back in and sort out everybody’s hair. In the meantime, use this time to give your hair a holiday. Minimise heat styling, put on a treatment once a week and maintain optimal condition by not putting any harsh chemicals or colour on it. If you have already attempted any of these things, please don’t feel embarrassed - we can sort it out. We really cannot wait to see all our existing clients and look forward to welcoming anyone new.

Please stay safe - we  send our good wishes to everybody and the biggest thank you to the NHS and all key workers.
