Holidaying without the hassle

The travel traffic lights have certainly become more crowded since we last caught up with Emma Baker at Holsworthy Travel… Suddenly red, amber and green have expanded to include amber plus and a green watch list. But summer is just getting started; how can we limit the holiday hassle for a relaxing break?

For those who have been double vaccinated, you can now travel to beautiful Jersey without the need to self-isolate on arrival. You will be required to take a free PCR test and can then go about your holiday, with the results being provided some hours later. Unless your text result is positive, you can then continue your holiday as planned. You can fly or sail to the island and it feels like a proper getaway.

Scotland and Ireland also offer some fabulous holiday opportunities. Emma advises: “You are able to holiday in Ireland, Scotland and Wales, although the rules will vary between locations. For example, if you are travelling from England to Scotland, you will definitely need to remember your face mask as they are still legally required. In Wales, you are currently only allowed to holiday with your household, although this is set to change very soon.

“The great news is that if you are double vaccinated, so had your final dose at least 14 days ago, you often won’t need to quarantine – although you will likely need a negative PCR or lateral flow test (or two!). The rules are changing frequently, so I always advise people to check the very latest laws and guidelines before booking and/or travelling.”

Of course, many are also looking ahead to next summer. Some holidays booked back in 2019 have yet to happen, so capacity for 2022 could end up being vastly reduced once prior bookings are allocated. It is certainly a good idea to start looking early if you are planning a break abroad next year.
