KETTLE CO - FROM PAR MARKET TO GRAND DESIGNS

Cornish businessman Dale Williams has fulfilled his ambition to grow his business from an outside stall at Cornwall’s famous Par Market into one of the South West’s fastest growing kitchen design retailers, featured on Channel 4’s hugely popular ‘Grand Designs’. He is set to celebrate with a special Grand Re-Opening Event at his remodelled showroom in St Austell on Saturday 5th October.

Unlike many kitchen companies, Kettle Co. is firmly rooted in personalised, right down to the nitty gritty, creativity and design, rather than relying on kitchen building through a computer programme. Dale Williams said:“I grew up immersed in kitchen design and manufacture. My father was a time-served cabinet maker, carpenter and all-round kitchen craftsman and his passion embedded deeply in my soul.”

That passion led to Dale completing a BA in design before becoming an apprentice in kitchen making and fitting, where he knew he’d be able to use his background in design to create well thought out kitchens that were part and parcel of each customer’s aspirations and personality. “People are unique,” said Dale, “and so I wanted to be able to fit the kitchen to them, rather than the other way around!”

Dale Williams stated trading on a pitch outside Par Market until one particularly cold and wet day, when the inside traders invited him inside to keep warm. He then came up with the idea of opening his first showroom at the HBH Woolacotts superstore in St Austell. He explained: “We developed this idea with HBH Woolacotts as a unique concept that means customers can visit a kitchen specialist and an electrical specialist all under one roof. So, for instance, you can plan your kitchen with us and then go and choose your new kettle, toaster or coffee machine to go with it.”

Kettle Co’s design-led approach so inspired famous British designer Tom Raffield and his wife, Danielle, that they were chosen to create and build a new kitchen for a project featured on Grand Designs. Tom Raffield said: “We found Kettle Co.’s creative way of dealing with problems was totally inspired…they were incredibly skilled at getting us to expose the way that we would use space…the end result was a refined and highly functional piece of design.”

Customers who come to the Grand Re-Opening Event on Saturday 5thOctober will be able to see the new showroom layout, complete with 9 ‘living’ kitchens for inspiration. Cornish chef Nigel Brown from Edie’s Kitchen will be there with his team to give cookery demonstrations, using delicious local produce and there will be a special promotion on the day, offering £500 off any kitchen ordered before 31stOctober 2019.

Kettle Co.’s commitment to innovative design and customer care has led to them being the only multi-store kitchen supplier in Cornwall and Devon to have been endorsed as a Which®Trusted Trader.
