THE BEAUTY of BUTTERFLIES by Eleanor Ludgate

Local artist Eleanor Ludgate has published a beautiful hardback book full of reproductions of her exquisite watercolours. There are 124 pages and the book is A4 in size.

Most of the butterflies were painted near Eleanor’s home in Chagford on Dartmoor where Eleanor gets most of the inspiration for her paintings. There is a section of the book dedicated to some of the butterflies she painted while living in Provence and an interesting section on how she paints her butterflies.

Eleanor has had a passion for butterflies and insects all her life and over the many years that she has been a professional artist has built quite a collection of her detailed paintings which she has now shared with us in this lovely book. 

The book is available in Eleanor’s Art Gallery “The Three Hares” in Chagford. There you will also be able to see a selection of some of the original paintings from the book.
