Paul German, president of the Lions Club of Tavistock, will turn on the lights of the three Christmas trees mounted on the front of Tavistock Town Hall at 7pm. This will be the nineteenth year for the ‘Trees of Light’ which to date have raised just over £90,000 for local charities; members of the public sponsor a light in memory of a departed loved one and local funeral company Morris Bros (Tavistock) Ltd, covers all the administration costs ensuring all the money raised is distributed to the chosen charities. The sponsorship form will be published in the Tavistock Times Gazette and it will also be available online at www.tavistocklions.org.uk. The switching on ceremony will be followed by an interdenominational service led by the local clergy which will include carol singing accompanied by Stannary Brass Band.
