Meavy Based Dartmoor Border Morris are throwing their doors open & would encourage anyone who would like to explore a new social experience, to meet up in Meavy Parish Hall on any Wednesday night from 7.45 pm. These new practice nights start on the 18th of September & run through till April, then we`re out dancing the four corners of Dartmoor!
We are a mixed Morris side & will accept anyone of any age or background who can commit & is enthusiastic to learn, though you need to be physically fit. Musicians are also very much accepted. Again, if you can play any instrument, acoustic or electric, you’re in!
Why do we ignore Oscar Wildes advice? Escapism! After a busy week of following the rules of work, to dress up with bells & feathers in our hats, dancing at a country pub with other like-minded people, raising money for charity or playing tunes & having a great music session. It’s a good way to keep fit or develop your musical skills & it`s very sociable! We normally practice every Wednesday till 9.45 pm before heading over the village green for a pint & music session in the Royal Oak Inn.
We are sponsored by the Black Farmer company (with whom we appeared in a television advert) & collect money for our nominated charity BASICS Devon, which supports Doctors who help paramedics in emergencies situations.

Totnes day of dance. Saturday 14th September. Dancing in Totnes with around 16 Morris sides dancing till we can`t dance no more! How much fun can we have?
Bere Ferrers Apple Day. Saturday 5th October 1PM. A day celebrating everything to do with Apples. Wood carving, pressing, juicing, pie eating & Morris dancing. This linked to the Wassail we do in January.
