How Does Your Garden Grow
The North Dartmoor Garden Club, a friendly group of garden lovers (but not necessarily gardeners!) starts its autumn season this September. Regular monthly meetings are held from September to April on the fourth Thursday of each month, 7.30pm, in Belstone Village Hall and with a wide range of speakers on a variety of topics.
The first meeting of the new season will be on 28th September when Peter Cantrill, an expert nurseryman who runs the wholesale nursery Dayspring Plants near Exeter, will be joining. He will be bringing a selection of unusual herbaceous plants, which he will be talking about and selling.
In October our Chairman Keith Badman will give a talk entitled ‘East of Eden – Public Gardens in Australia and Singapore’. Singapore and Australia have gardens with a wide range of plants and a climate that presents interesting horticultural problems.
Other meetings cover a range of subjects including, Gardening in a Changing Climate, The Isles of Scilly, Designing Show Gardens and Adventures with Fancy Foliage.
Members come from a wide area including Okehampton, Hatherleigh, North Tawton, Chagford and, of course, all the local villages. The club welcomes new members, guests and visitors so why not come along? At £15 membership for the year, it is very good value for money. Visitors £4 for an evening.
