The Wharf is located between the River Tavy and Tavistock Canal. It was built in the 18th century as a busy industrial centre, and was converted to its present form by the local council in 1995. Since then it has been privately run as an arts centre offering live music, cinema, theatre and other events. There is also an Art Gallery, popular Coffee Shop and Licensed Barwith a unique waterside terrace.
The auditorium, Coffee Shop and Licensed Bar have full disabled access and facilities, however the Art Gallery is only accessible via stairs.
Tavistock’s large main car park, Bedford Car Park, is adjacent to the Wharf and provides free parking after 6pm. From Tavistock Bus Station on Plymouth Road it is just a two minute walk to the Wharf. Meadowlands Swimming Pool is next door together with The Meadows park, and Tavistock Library is nearby.
