Hello! I am Moss, a German Wirehaired Pointer and I live on Dartmoor. I will be two in December, so I am still young which is pretty handy as it means I can get away with being naughty.
Lots of things have happened since I last wrote my blog for the magazine, it has been very exciting – we have moved house! I liked our old house near Moretonhampstead, which was on a farm, my person decided She wanted to move somewhere smaller. So… some nice men came (they all wore shorts, and I got to lick their knees!) and packed the house into lots of boxes, and loaded them into big vans and drove them away. All my bedding and toys disappeared, I was a bit worried I can tell you!
Next day, the nice men all turned up again (in their shorts!) at the new house in South Zeal and unpacked some of the boxes, but not all of them as there isn’t as much room. Ever since then, She has been saying She can’t find things… this is very confusing as it was She who wanted to move in the first place!
This new house has a big garden, so I get to run about a lot, and we have sheep in the field next door, so I get to stare at them, and cows on the other side of the garden, so I sneaking peek at them when they aren’t looking. I am wary of cows…
There are lots of good things about living here, there are two pubs very close by, and a village shop. She says it is very convenient. I certainly like popping into the pub, where I put my best chip begging face on and get given titbits. She got very excited the other day when the postman came and delivered a copy of OkeLinks to us! It’s a top read and I expect I shall be able to get my photo in it before long…
Anyway, the best news is that I get to walk on Cosdon Beacon every day! It is right opposite where we live and it is really high! I like it when we walk right up to the top and I can look out at all the countryside… I can even see Castle Drogo in the distance, where we used to walk a lot. A few days ago, when I woke up and looked out, Cosdon was all white which was really exciting… I hope we get lots of snow this year, I love playing in it.
She says I am a very lucky dog to live where I do as Dartmoor is such a great place for walking. Last weekend we went to Hound Tor and I met several other nice dogs and had a chat. It was a really nice afternoon and the sun went all sort of orange and She kept ‘oohing’ and ‘aahing’ and stopping to take photos. This was good as She didn’t notice when I found a really fragrant pile to roll in. She certainly noticed when I got back in the car though……!
I’ll be back in a couple of weeks to tell you more…
