Open Evening on Monday 11 December
There is an opportunity for new members to join the well-established Buckland Art Group.
This friendly group, one of only a few local art groups to meet in the evenings, has regular Monday meetings from 7.30pm to 10pm in the village hall in Buckland Monachorum, near Yelverton (the hall is open for members to set up from 7pm). The club welcomes members of all abilities, and although no formal structured tuition is currently undertaken, the more experienced members are always willing to share their knowledge and help the less experienced. There are members who paint in most of the available media, and everyone is encouraged to try something new from time to time. Meeting content is varied, with some visiting tutors, video demonstrations, challenges and topics set by members, and evenings when we just continue our own work. This is a participative group, and members are encouraged to paint along with whatever is happening. We don’t have lectures or demonstrations where everyone just watches! In previous years the group has run a popular exhibition in the spring which we hope to reinstate.
We are hosting an “Open Evening” on Monday 11 December at 7.30pm in Buckland Monachorum Village Hall, where anyone interested can meet us for a chat, to see the sort of things we do, to ask any questions, and to talk about the programme next year. Current costs are an annual subscription of £17, and £3.50 per evening attended. So that potential members can decide whether the group is for them, the annual subscription is only payable after the first term. We currently meet fortnightly, so if you want to come along on a Monday evening, or for further information contact either: Iain Grant on 07971 534996, basmudoc@gmail.com; or Derek Mahoney on 01822 855032, derek.mahoney@care4free.net
