Mount Kelly Choral Society Christmas Concert takes place in Tavistock Methodist Church, PL19 8DX at 7.30pm.
The choir will perform a programme of Christmas music, favourite carols and readings including extracts from Handel’s Messiah and Mendelssohn’s Elijah under the baton of new musical director, Daniel Robson. Soloists will be soprano Bianca Phillips and baritone Andrew Farris, and the organist is Mary Mazur-Park. Dan moved to Mount Kelly following ten years as Director of Music at Clifton College in Bristol, where he conducted choirs, orchestras and shows including Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera. He is an accomplished singer and held a choral scholarship at Magdalen College, University of Oxford, before going on to be a lay clerk in Bristol Cathedral Choir where he sang as a soloist on BBC1 and BBC Radio 3. As a choral director he has led many chapel services including sung evensongs and Christmas carol services. As a bass/baritone soloist he has sung with many choral societies, including C.P.E Bach’s Magnificat, J.S. Bach’s St John Passion, Jonathan Willcocks's Requiem and Haydn’s Harmoniemesse. He also plays the trumpet and piano.
