Slow making
There are many benefits to creating something - a meal, a craft project, art, a green space, music - and one benefit that takes central stage in Slow Making January is connecting.
“I came up with the idea for Slow Making January to have something to look forward to for myself”, says self-employed creative Susan Breedijk. “I find January always a bit of a challenging month with all the New Year’s resolution vibes, the pressure of a fresh start. Being together and making things is something we don’t do enough. Our busy lives are taking over Lately I have had the pleasure of creating lovely projects in company of others by giving workshops on up-cycling. And a new idea was born. “
Twice a week Susan will be crafting her own projects in two Chagford cafes. She is eager to share her craft and up-cycling knowledge and invites you to join her in mindful crafting.
If you like to finish one of your own craft projects, to start a new one or learn a new technique, and want some company while doing it, please join her. Just bring your own materials and equipment. They need to be projects suitable to do in company and in a cafe setting (think paper crafts, slow stitching, knitting and crocheting). All for the cost of buying a cup of tea, coffee and maybe some cake at the cafe and a donation for Susan’s knowledge sharing.
